Combined Skipper Training:
Basic Keelboat Sailing (ASA 101) And Basic Coastal Cruising (ASA 103)
This course combines the Basic Keelboat Sailing (ASA 101) and Basic Coastal Cruising (ASA 103) levels of the ASA curriculum.
Prerequisites
Simply the desire to learn to sail or refresh your pre-existing sailing skills!
Class Size
All of our classes are private, so only you and your friends or family will be on board your chartered sailboat during your instruction by our certified ASA/USCG Captain Certified Instructors.
Classes require a minimum of two and maximum of four students in order to be conducted. Interested students need to form their own groups in advance.
Dates
The Lake Champlain Sailing School offers course instruction from mid-May to mid-September. We offer flexible scheduling according to your group's preferred dates.

Curriculum
ASA 101
Curriculum includes the theory and practice of sailing on all points of sail. Upon completion, the student should be able to handle a similar size sailboat in light to moderate wind and sea conditions in familiar waters.

ASA 103
Curriculum includes how to handle a vessel under power and sail in moderate wind and sea conditions.
- Students will be introduced to the location, operation and daily maintenance of the yacht's systems: Fresh Water, Fuel, Gray Water, Waste, Electrical and Propane/CNG. The diesel engine/drive system will be also be covered in class.
- Students will use local charts and learn to plot your course and use tide and current tables and be introduced to Electronic NAV utilizing hand held and fixed GPS units.
